In response to the challenges of densification in land-scarce Singapore, our transformative approach targets the area extending from Canberra to Yishun. Leveraging green and blue infrastructure, we counter densification while prioritizing the well-being of the community. By reimagining Sungei Simpang Kiri, a concrete tidal canal, as a destination and transition zone, we employ environmental placemaking for a socially and ecologically sound environment.
Through pedestrianization of obsolete roads and introduction of green spines and soil-bioengineered canals, the masterplan transforms the canal into a visually distinct and functional space, fostering ample spaces for activities and spontaneous interactions among residents, industrial estate workers, and park-goers.
