Nestled within the landscape of one-north, Mutualistic Infrastructures aims to revitalize an underused park designed by West 8 and ICN Design in 2006. Originally envisioned as an “evolutionary park,” the initial phase, completed in 2006, boasts jogging trails, fitness corners, and lush Ficus trees. However, unforeseen delays halted Phase 2, leaving the park as it was for nearly two decades. The proposal, rooted in the concept of Mutualistic Infrastructures, seeks not to replace but to integrate the existing park with infrastructures catered to the residents and visitors.
Informed by the evolving needs of the one-north community, the mutualistic symbiosis between the existing park and the proposal ensures a harmonious coexistence, with each infrastructure enhancing the other within the same spatial constraints. By incorporating social, economic, mobility, energy, and environmental systems, Mutualistic Infrastructures transforms the park into a dynamic and multipurpose hub, seamlessly adapting to the evolving demands of the community.
